Connecticut resident Filipe Monteiro is the owner of Monteiro’s
Masonry Construction, LLC, which he founded in 2006, just four years after
coming to the United States from Portugal.
In Portugal, Connecticut resident Filipe Monteiro enlisted with
the army so that he could better serve communities through his volunteer work.
There, he felt that his volunteer time made a greater impact than donating his
efforts alone. Only after several years of helping to rebuild communities by
moving between several bootcamps and working with a special volunteer project,
did he come to the US.
Once Mr. Monteiro was in the US, he began learning English and,
just four years after his arrival, he founded Monteiro’s Masonry Construction.
Though a construction and masonry company might not be an
obvious way to give back to others, it allows Mr. Monteiro to make a living
while improving communities around him. Ensuring that clients receive fair quotes
and quality craftsmanship is important to Mr. Monteiro, and he has continued
expanding his business to help as many people as he can. Today, it serves
clients from around the tristate area.
If you’re considering a career – or a volunteer opportunity –
that would allow you to help others, benefits like those below might convince
you to take the leap:
·
Friendship.
Helping others encourages deeper connections. Those who volunteer or work
in jobs through which they help others often have more friends and closer
friendship bonds than those who don’t.
·
Health
and Wealth. Helping others provides a sense of self-worth and happiness,
which both reduces your risk of disease and increases
potential income.
Before you turn down helping others, remember that professionals like Connecticut resident Filipe Monteiro often attribute their professional and personal happiness to how many lives they have improved. This, above all else, is an excellent reason start your own compassionate path.
